One of the most important things that you should focus on is making your music unique. We've seen too many artists try to record a song that is almost identical to a particular song they've heard on the radio. When it comes to record deals, sounding too much like someone else may not work in your favor. Phantom City Studio wants to hear one thing that is uniquely different in your music. That's all. You know what? You're already unique. You are different to every other artist, musician and songwriter on the planet. So what do you do? Bring out the you in your music. Let your demo reflect you. Your demo should capture your unique personality and individuality.
Phantom City Studio wants to hear your demo. Whether you are a rock band, hip hop artist, singer, rapper, songwriter, voice over actor, producer, or musician, your demo submission may get you a record deal. Do you need a record deal? Send us your demo. Send your demo to a record label that is really looking to sign new artists today!!!
WHAT IS A DEMO SUBMISSION? A demo submission is the process where an artist will find a record label company and send out their demo in the hopes of "getting signed" (receiving a record deal after signing a recording contract). In most cases this extremely difficult if not nearly impossible to achieve due to the fact that nearly 95% of record labels already have more than enough artists on their roster. Unlike many record labels, Phantom City Studios is now looking to sign new artists. This means you have a REAL shot at getting a record deal contract from Phantom City Studio. Now is your chance to be a star! Don't let this rare opportunity pass you by. Submit your demo today!
Your demo will be reviewed by our A&R department and we will inform you whether or not your demo has been selected to be shopped for placement opportunities, record deals, distribution deals, publishing deals, and/or production deals within approximately seven to ten business days from the moment we receive your demo submission.
Demo Submission fee? Demo submissions are something we would offer free of charge if we could. However, because of the very elaborate, detailed, thorough, and lengthy process, we incur extensive costs. The small submission fee allows us to receive demos from serious artists who have a burning desire to make it in the music industry. If we had no submission fee, some artists would send too many songs. Eventually, that would overload the entire system.
Choose "DEMO SUBMISSION FEE WITH CRITIQUES" to receive professional critiques from A&R's well worth their weight in gold.
Music Demo Submissions are only $5 per song or add an additional $15 for Professional Demo Critiques... All demo submissions must include a "receipt number" obtained once your payment is securely processed by PayPal. Submit your demo(s) to: Demos@PhantomCityStudio.com as an Mp3 attachment. Each demo will be reviewed by professional A&R's.
Demos that include more than one song have higher chances of being selected for a record deal! Sending more than one song at a time helps us learn more about you as an artist. The song that you might not think will land you a record deal most probably will. You may send up to five songs at a time!
Secured Payment is only three easy steps away!
Choose the left box to submit your demo without critiques or Choose the box on the RIGHT to receive a Critique of your demo!!!
Select the number of songs included in your demo by clicking on the (DOWN ARROW) located on the drop boxes below.
All demos Must be sent from the SAME EXACT EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED DURING PAYMENT.
Please write "DEMO SUBMISSION" in the subject box and include your Receipt Number.
Be sure to let us know who or what to listen to in your demo. For Example: I sang verse one and three but not verse two, I sang the chorus, I wrote this song, This is a demo of me singing a cover song, This demo is all my original material, etc...
All demo submissions should include type of genre, a brief bio (four sentences), and contact info that is currently up to date.
Please be sure to include your Receipt Number. We look forward to hearing from you!
Q. Is Phantom City Studios still looking to sign new artists?
A. Yes. We will close this page when we stop looking.
Q. Which companies does Phantom City Studios work with?
A. Arista, Atlantic, BMG, Capitol, Columbia, EMI, Epic, Island/Def Jam, Jive, Interscope, MCA, Motown, RCA, Sony, Universal, Virgin, and Warner Bros, just to name a few. More than 500 companies have come to Phantom City Studios to find music, and the list is always growing!
Q. What kinds of deals Phantom City Studios has signed?
A. We have signed just about every kind of deal imaginable. Record deals with major and independent labels, single song deals, multi- song deals, staff writer deals, video game deals, and deals for film and TV placements.
Q. What is an A&R representative?
A. Artists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label.
Q. What is a record deal or recording contract?
A. A recording contract (commonly called a record deal) is a legal agreement between a record label and a recording artist (or group), where the artist makes a record (or series of records) for the label to sell and promote. Artists under contract are normally only allowed to record for that label exclusively; guest appearances on other artists' records will carry a notice "By courtesy of (the name of the label)", and that label may receive a percentage of sales.
Q. What is a distribution deal?
A. A distribution deal is a legal agreement between one party and another, to handle distribution of a product.
Q. What is a publishing deal?
A. A publishing contract is a legal contract between a publisher and a writer or author (or more than one), to publish written material by the writer(s) or author(s). This may involve a single written work, or a series of works.
In the case of music publishing, the emphasis is not on printed or recorded works as much as on promotion of a musical composition, and/or its referral to a suitable recording artist. A music publisher who does produce (or contract to issue) sheet music is known as a music print publisher.
Q. What is a production deal?
A. The production deal is another hybrid of the exclusive recording contract. In a production deal, the artist does not contract directly with the record label, but with a business that makes recordings. The recording company then licenses or assigns those recordings to a label. Typically, the record label is an offshoot business of the recording company.
The production company will generally expect exclusivity from the artist for as long as copyright in the recordings is available. During the term of the contract, the production company will look to develop the artist by recording several tracks and will then ‘tout’ their artists to the bigger labels in the expectation that the production company’s rights will be acquired either through a licensing deal or assignment.
The advantage to an artist in signing up with a production deal is that the artist may enjoy greater creative freedom and benefit from a greater degree of focus from the owners of the production company.
Q. What happens when I send my demo?
A. First, your demo will be screened according to its music genre to determine which A&R reps will listen to it. Next, A&R reps will listen carefully and judge your demo according to an industry standard point system. Finally, we will inform you whether or not your demo has been selected to be shopped for placement opportunities, record deals, distribution deals, publishing deals, and/or production deals within approximately seven business days from the moment we receive your demo submission.
Q. Will I receive a critique of my demo from the A&R reps?
A. Yes, Choose the "Demo Submission Fee with Critiques" option (the payment option on the RIGHT) in order to receive honest critiques of your demo and learn more about why or why not your demo has been selected.
Q. What kind of deal will I get when my demo is selected?
A. When your demo is selected you will receive either a record deal, distribution deal, publishing deals, and/or a production deal.
Q. How good does the recording quality of my demo have to be?
A. We are looking for new recording artists, not great audio engineers! One of the most successful songs to come through Phantom City Studios was recorded with a cheap microphone and inexpensive recording software in a small one bedroom apartment.
Q. Why is there a fee to submit my demo?
A. If we had no submission fee, some artists would send too many songs. Eventually, that would overload the entire system.
Q. Can I send my demo through Postal Mail?
A. Yes. You may send $5 per song plus an additional $15 if you would like to Receive a professional Critique of your Demo Submission (CASH ONLY) to: P.O. Box 692199 Orlando, Florida 32869 - Please write demo submission on the package. Be sure to include a clearly written email address or we will not be able to contact you. Q. Can I use another artist's song or music background in my demo?
A. Yes, you can use another artist's song as long as you give them credit in the email.
Q. When an artist submits a demo for evaluation, does the contents of that demo become property of Phantom City Studio upon submission? Will you keep that demo and use it for other things? Can an artist be assured that their material won't be plagiarized?
A. When an artist submits a demo to Phantom City Studio, he or she maintains complete ownership of that demo and its contents at all times. All demos that are not selected for further review are automatically deleted from our system (your demo will not be used for other things). When in doubt, have all works copywriten by the Library of Congress.
Q. For one song, are the mp3 file and its lyrics considered two demos? Does it mean that the song itself is worth one song payment while the lyrics attached as a document another payment? Or are they together considered one song payment as a whole?

Q. What is MP3?
A. MP3, or MPEG layer 3, has become a popular format for reducing the size of audio files. Most of the music available for download off the internet is found in this format. The reduction in file size is accomplished partly by compression, elimination of inaudible data, and the encoding duplicate data. The result is an audio file that sounds the same, but is not identical to the original. MP3 can be encoded at different bitrates, measured in kilobits per second (kbps). Music encoded at either 128 or 160 kbps will generally be of good quality, but for the purpose of burning a CD, the original .wav or CD-DA is preferable.
